Changes to Delhi Metro Schedule and Parking Restrictions for Independence Day

To accommodate Independence Day celebrations, the Delhi Metro train services will start earlier on Tuesday. The trains will begin running at 5am from all terminal stations and will operate every 30 minutes until 6am when they will resume their regular schedule. However, parking facilities at the stations will not be accessible until 2pm due to security reasons.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced through a tweet on Saturday that all lines’ train services will start at 5am on Tuesday to help passengers attend the ceremony on August 15, 2023.

The trains will run every 30 minutes on all lines until 6am, and then they will follow the normal timetable.

Regarding parking restrictions for Independence Day security measures, the metro authority stated that parking facilities at stations will be unavailable from 6am on August 14, 2023, until 2pm on August 15, 2023. However, regular train services will continue during this time.

Around 1,800 individuals from various professions, along with their partners, have been invited as guests for the Independence Day event at Delhi’s Red Fort this year as part of the government’s “Jan Bhagidari” vision of public participation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the nation in commemorating the 77th Independence Day at the iconic Red Fort in the national capital on Tuesday.

Delhi traffic police have issued an advisory for Independence Day, informing about road closures, diversions, and restricted vehicle movement. Several roads, including Netaji Subhash Marg, Lothian Road, S.P. Mukherjee Marg, Nishad Raj Marg, Esplanade Road, Ring Road, and Outer Ring Road, will be closed to general traffic from 4am to 11am. Only designated vehicles will be allowed on these routes.
