Chakali Ailamma, the washerwoman from Chityala, is a symbol of self-respect for lower classes and women’s dynamism, according to District Additional Collector S Tirupathi Rao. She showed courage and bravery against the countrymen and rajakars at that time, inspiring women. On her death anniversary, a program was organized by the district backward classes welfare department in Wanaparthy. The district treasurer, honorary advisors, and others paid tribute to her. Her portraits were garlanded in Wanaparthy district center and Pebberu mandal center, honoring her fighting spirit. She fought against the Nizam’s rule and Visnuru Deshmukh. Born in 1895, she was married with five sons and two children. She faced a land dispute but won the case with the help of a famous lawyer. She joined the Nadu Sangam to protect her farm from Deshmukh’s goons, which marked the beginning of the Telangana Armed Struggle and made her an inspiration for the Telangana statehood movement.
