Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s request to extend the Smart City Mission has been approved by the Centre. The mission will now continue until March 2025.

In the State, works under the Smart City Mission are ongoing in Warangal and Karimnagar. In Warangal, 45 works have been completed and 66 more works are in progress with a total cost of Rs 518 crore. In Khammam, 25 works have been completed and 22 more are in progress with a cost of Rs 287 crore. The CM has updated the Union minister on the status of these works.

In the interest of completing the works without rushing, Reddy requested an extension of the Smart City Mission. The Centre responded positively by extending the deadline until March 31, 2025. The letter from the Centre stated that ongoing approved work will continue, but no new work will be sanctioned. Funds for ongoing projects will be released on a first-come, first-served basis until September this year. States are advised to complete the work as soon as possible.
