Hyderabad: The Union Government has turned down the request of some IAS officers from Andhra Pradesh (AP), who wanted to continue working in Telangana. They have been asked to return to AP immediately.
The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions made this decision based on recommendations from the Deepak Khandekar committee. The committee was formed to review requests from All India Services (AIS) officers about switching cadres after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in 2014. The committee found that swapping cadres was not allowed as per the established rules, which had already been confirmed by the High Court.
The Ministry said that the allocation of officers between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana was done fairly, based on facts. The Telangana High Court also emphasized that the rules should be followed, and no exceptions should be made, as it would be unfair to others.
Some of the officers asked to report back to AP include Ronald Rose (2006 batch), GHMC Commissioner Amrapali Kata (2010 batch), A Vani Prasad (1995 batch), Vakati Karuna (2004 batch), and M Prashanti (2009 batch). The list also includes IPS officers such as Anjani Kumar (1990), Abhilasha Bisht (1994), and Cyberabad Police Commissioner Abhishek Mohanty (2011).
Amrapali Kata, one of the officers, was born on November 4, 1982, in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. She completed her schooling at Sai Satya Mandir School in Visakhapatnam.
