Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy criticized Opposition leaders for not participating in the caste survey. He targeted Leader of Opposition K Chandrashekar Rao, KT Rama Rao, T Harish Rao, DK Aruna, and others for avoiding the survey and not providing their details. He accused them of being afraid to disclose their land holdings for reasons unknown.
Speaking during a special Assembly session on ‘Caste Survey 2024,’ the Chief Minister pointed out that similar surveys were conducted in 1931, making this the second such effort. He also mentioned MLAs Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, T Padma Rao Goud, and MLC Pochampally Srinivas Reddy. He alleged that the BJP is against helping weaker sections, which is why Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not conduct the Census in 2021.
When Opposition members questioned the government about not presenting the full report, Revanth Reddy explained that the statement given in the Assembly was a summary of the report, which consists of four volumes. He clarified that while three volumes discussed the procedures followed, the fourth contained personal details that the government could not disclose. He assured that there was no hidden agenda and that the government had already shared the summary without being asked.
The Chief Minister also dismissed BJP’s claims that the state’s population had declined. He stated that the population grows by 1.2 percent each year and emphasized that he had no reason to manipulate the numbers. He vowed to fight the central government if needed and warned against falling for misinformation spread by the BRS, which he referred to as an “Association of Lies.”
