Cantonment General Hospital to undergo renovation shortly

The Cantonment General Hospital in Bolarum, Hyderabad is going to undergo renovations soon. This decision was made during a meeting of the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) on Monday. The Board is planning to set up a diagnostic hub at the hospital.

Following a directive from Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to enhance services at Cantonment General Hospital, officials from the Telangana Health department visited the hospital. They suggested various improvements such as establishing a trauma center, providing free medicine, extending the Arogyasri scheme, and more. These upgrades will be implemented soon. D Madhukar Naik, Chief Executive Officer of SCB, stated that they sought support from the State government to upgrade the hospital.

In response to their request, Health Department officials visited the hospital. They will help in providing free medicines through the Telangana Medical Infrastructure Development Corporation. Plans are also in place to extend the diagnostic hub and set up a trauma center due to the hospital’s proximity to the highway. The Arogyasri scheme is already operational at the center. Previously, SCB collected user charges from patients for some medical services, but with this scheme, many people will benefit.

The 60-bed Cantonment Hospital offers a variety of medical services including OPD services like general, dental, orthopedic, ENT, ophthalmology, surgery, pediatrics, psychiatry, skin, anesthesia, ayurvedic, and homeopathy. It also provides laboratory services like ECG and radiology including X-rays and ultrasounds. Approximately 200 outpatients from Cantonment and nearby areas visit the center daily.

“This upgrade will be very beneficial for patients who cannot afford treatment at private hospitals. Funds for these facilities will be allocated soon. Additionally, a sewage treatment plant has been recently installed at the center,” said a senior officer from SCB.
