Political Campaigns in Full Swing for MLC Elections
With the Karimnagar-Medak-Adilabad-Nizamabad Graduate & Teachers MLC elections approaching, political activity has intensified. A total of 56 candidates are contesting for the Graduates MLC seat, while 15 candidates are in the race for the Teachers MLC seat. Leaders from various parties are actively campaigning to support their candidates.
Congress leaders, including BC and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu, and PCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud, have been campaigning extensively for their party’s candidate, Narender Reddy, in Karimnagar and Peddapalli districts. Meanwhile, BJP leaders, including Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Union Minister Kishan Reddy, Rajya Sabha member Laxman, and Malkajgiri MP Etala Rajender, have been campaigning for BJP candidates Anji Reddy and Komuraiah in various districts.
In Medak and Karimnagar districts, Congress ministers and MLAs are working on a strategy to secure a win for Narender Reddy. Many believe that his victory depends on strong grassroots efforts. Campaign preparations are also underway in Siddipet, Medak, and Sangareddy districts, with a close contest expected between Congress and BJP candidates in both the Graduate and Teacher MLC elections.
For the Teacher MLC seat, a tough competition is emerging between PRTU’s candidate Vanga Mahender Reddy and BJP’s Malkajgiri Komuraiah. Other candidates in the race include Ashok Kumar, backed by TPTF, and M Sudhakar Reddy, who previously contested the elections and secured third place.
Professor Harikrishna, who resigned from his teaching job and gained popularity among students through Winners Publication, is campaigning in his own unique style with the support of various associations. The Aam Aadmi Party has extended its support to Laksh International School Chairman Mushtaq Ali, who is actively organizing meetings in different districts.
Former TRASMA president Yadagiri Shekhar Rao is also contesting, conducting campaigns by connecting with graduates across the district. Additionally, former Karimnagar Mayor and ex-Telangana Civil Supply Corporation Chairman Sardar Ravinder Singh, who was initially expecting a ticket from BRS, has entered the race as an independent candidate after the party decided not to contest.
Regarding voter distribution, the old Karimnagar district leads with 1,60,260 registered graduates out of the 3.55 lakh voters across four united districts and 15 new districts. In the Teachers’ constituency, 18,953 out of 27,088 voters have registered. Given Karimnagar’s large voter base, all parties are focusing their campaigns in this region. On the other hand, Jayashankar Bhupalpally district has the lowest number of voters in both the Graduate and Teacher constituencies.
