Call for urgent government intervention as Taramati Premavati heritage sites in Hyderabad are in ruins

Conservation and restoration of culture and heritage in Telangana are not just for certain monuments. This is evident from the neglect of heritage sites dedicated to Taramathi and Premavathi, which are now in ruins from the time of the Golconda Sultanate.

While Taramati Baradari is well-maintained and prestigious, the sites of Taramathi and Premavathi have been completely ignored and are in poor condition. These sites were once important locations for showcasing classical dance and music by Dr. Nataraja Ramakrishna, a renowned dance guru who promoted classical dance globally.

Despite efforts to highlight the significance of these sites during the Golkonda Sultanate period, they have been neglected by the government and the State Archeology and Museums Department of Telangana. The historical importance of Taramati and Premavathi in reflecting the composite cultures of the Qutb Shahi dynasty has been overlooked.

Efforts were made in the past to conserve these sites, but they require extensive restoration work. The government can collaborate with organizations like JNTU to undertake restoration projects for these heritage sites.
