BRS walks out in protest over CM’s comment on KCR

The BRS members walked out of the Assembly on Saturday while Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy was speaking. They were protesting against his recent remarks about Leader of Opposition K Chandrasekhar Rao, which they found offensive.

The BRS MLAs boycotted the CM’s response to Governor Jishnu Dev Varma’s speech and left the House as soon as Revanth Reddy began speaking. Earlier, the CM had reportedly remarked that BRS leaders, who were talking about “stature,” had already been sent on a “stretcher” by the people. He warned that if their attitude continued, they could end up in a mortuary.

Upset by these remarks, BRS leaders filed complaints against the Chief Minister at various police stations across the State.

During the discussion on the Governor’s speech, BRS MLA Palla Rajeshwar Reddy challenged the Congress government to provide details of any village where the crop loan waiver scheme had been fully implemented. This led to heated arguments between the ruling and opposition parties. The Jangaon MLA criticized the Governor’s speech, calling it misleading and lacking direction. He also accused the Congress government of leading the State towards negative growth and undemocratic governance.

In response, Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka strongly defended the Congress government. He pointed out that unlike the BRS, which delayed loan waivers for six years, the Congress government had waived farmers’ loans within just three months.

Bhatti provided data to support his statement. In Janagaon, the BRS government waived Rs 124 crore over five years, while the Congress government waived Rs 263 crore in just three months. In Gajwel, BRS waived Rs 104.3 crore during its tenure, whereas the Congress waived Rs 237.33 crore. Similarly, in Siddipet, BRS waived Rs 96.62 crore over five years, but the Congress waived Rs 177.91 crore within three months.

Earlier in the day, the BRS urged the Speaker to revoke the suspension of BRS MLA and former Minister G Jagadish Reddy. Former Minister T Harish Rao argued that Jagadish Reddy had not disrespected the Speaker in the House. He added that if given a chance to explain, Jagadish Reddy would have provided a detailed clarification, but unfortunately, he was not allowed to speak.
