BRS targets Congress-BJP alliance over HCU controversy

Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders strongly criticized the recent lathi-charge on students. On Wednesday, they accused both the Congress and BJP of putting on an act over the incident at Hyderabad Central University (HCU). They challenged Union Ministers from Telangana to prove their support for students by preventing police from entering the campus.

At a press conference held at Telangana Bhavan, MLA G Jagadish Reddy spoke alongside leaders N Bhaskar Rao, K Prabhakar Reddy, Palla Praveen Reddy, and Vallamalla Krishna. Jagadish Reddy claimed the current government was treating students badly. He reminded that students and youth had supported Congress in the elections. He also said that HCU was established after the Telangana movement in 1969.

Reddy said that students are now forced to protest to protect the university. He criticized the Congress for using police force and filing cases against students. He also objected to ministers calling students a “paid batch,” asking if paid students would risk police action and arrests. He further alleged that Congress ministers gained their posts through money, not merit.

The BRS leader accused both Congress and BJP of acting together. He said that if BJP leaders like Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay were truly concerned, they could stop the police from entering the university.

Finally, Reddy accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of working with the BJP to take over 400 acres of land. He argued that while the government has rights over public land, it should not be allowed to sell parks and forests. He urged the government to end the violence at Hyderabad Central University.
