BRS Takes a Stand Against the Uniform Civil Code Bill in Parliament

The BRS party has decided to oppose the Uniform Civil Code bill that the Centre wants to introduce in the monsoon session of Parliament. This decision was made after a meeting between AIMIM president Assad Uddin Owaisi and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. KCR stated that India is known for its diversity and the bill would divide the people and create tensions. He also criticized the BJP-led government for neglecting the country’s development and creating enmity among people. The CM directed Parliamentary Party leaders K. Keshava Rao and Nama Nageshwar Rao to prepare an action plan to fight against the bill in both houses of Parliament. The BRS will also collaborate with like-minded political parties in opposing the bill.

The All India Muslim Personal Law Board Executive, led by Board President Khalid Saifullah Rahmani, also met with KCR and urged him to oppose the UCC bill. They argued that the bill threatens the existence of the country’s people and their traditions and cultures. BRS working president K T Rama Rao also attended the meeting. Owaisi announced that the MIM party and Board will reach out to other parties for support in opposing the UCC bill before the start of the parliamentary session.
