BRS Forms Committee to Study Farmer Suicides in Telangana

The findings of this study will be compiled into a report and submitted to the government. Party leaders explained that the committee was created in response to the alarming rate of farmer suicides and the broader agricultural crisis affecting the state.

BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) announced that the committee would visit all districts, examine the challenges faced by farmers at the ground level, and share their report with key stakeholders, including the Agriculture Minister, the agriculture commission, and BRS president K Chandrashekar Rao.

KTR stated that the report would focus on identifying the main reasons behind farmer suicides and the agricultural challenges that emerged over the last year. He also mentioned plans to meet small, marginal, and tenant farmers directly to understand their problems.

Expressing concern, KTR said that the number of farmer suicides had increased significantly during the one-year rule of the Congress government, which had come to power after making several promises to farmers. He highlighted that over 400 farmers had already taken their own lives, calling the situation deeply troubling for the state.
