BRS Sets Sights on Third Consecutive Victory

The countdown for the Assembly elections in Telangana has begun, with the Election Commission of India announcing the poll schedule. The next 50 days will be crucial for all parties, especially the BRS and Congress party. Top leaders will be visiting and campaigning for an intense political battle before the November 30 elections.

The main competition will be between the BRS party and the Congress. However, this time there will be multiple parties in the race, including BJP, TDP, Jana Sena, CPI, and CPM. The left parties are hoping to form an alliance with Congress.

The BRS party is assessing the potential impact of the multi-cornered contest. They believe it could help them by dividing the anti-incumbency votes. However, they are also concerned about losing support from SC voters and those who have been in Telangana for a long time. The BSP could cut into the SC votes, and there is dissatisfaction among some supporters regarding the arrest of TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu and the restrictions on techies’ protests.

If the left and Congress form an alliance, it could affect the BRS party’s chances in old Khammam and Nalgonda districts.

The BRS party is relying on the development work carried out during their tenure. The opposition parties, Congress and BJP, are banking on anti-incumbency and alleged failures of the current government. However, there are mixed opinions among households, with unemployed youth unhappy with the ruling party while their parents and grandparents benefit from welfare schemes.

The BRS party plans to enhance existing welfare schemes to counter the promises made by Congress. They aim to provide two bags of free urea, Rs 5,000 per month to farmers, increase Rytu Bandhu to Rs 15,000 per acre, and raise pension amounts under different categories.

In conclusion, the upcoming Assembly elections in Telangana will see a multi-cornered contest, with the BRS party and Congress as the main contenders. The BRS party is confident in their development work and plans to enhance welfare schemes. However, the left and Congress alliance could pose a challenge in certain districts.
