BRS leaders in Hyderabad are planning to take their case of party MLAs defecting to the Supreme Court. They have not received a response from the Speaker regarding their petition against MLA Danam Nagender for three months.
The party has consulted legal experts about approaching the Supreme Court because it has been three months since Nagender joined Congress. The Supreme Court has previously ruled that the Speaker must make a decision on disqualification petitions within three months.
As per paragraphs 30 and 33 of the Supreme Court’s judgement, the High Court should make a decision promptly. A hearing on the disqualification of Danam Nagender is scheduled for June 27 in the High Court. If the High Court does not act swiftly to disqualify Nagender, the party will escalate the matter to the Supreme Court, not only against Khairatabad MLA but also other defected MLAs.
