Mahabubnagar:
BRS party leaders held a protest in front of the Ambedkar statue in Jogulamba Gadwal on Sunday. They demanded the immediate release of the Rythu Bandhu scheme for farmers. The protest was led by State leader Dr. Kuruva Vijay Kumar.
During the protest, Vijay Kumar criticized the Congress government for its decision to withdraw farmers’ insurance for the rainy season. He reminded people that under KCR’s leadership, farmers were promised better financial support. He also claimed that if Congress came to power, they would provide ₹15,000 to farmers under the Rythu Barosa scheme and waive loans for two lakh farmers.
Vijay Kumar mentioned a recent statement by Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswarao, saying that there would be no Rythu Bandhu this year. He accused Congress Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of misleading farmers. He also pointed out that the Congress government had not fulfilled its promises, including ₹12,000 per year for landless farmers and a ₹500 bonus per quintal for rice, which has not yet been given.
Additionally, Vijay Kumar criticized local MLA Krishnamohan Reddy. He claimed that Reddy, who was once part of the BRS, switched to Congress for personal benefits, abandoning the party that helped him get elected.
The protest ended with demands for the immediate release of the Rythu Bandhu funds, a complete loan waiver for farmers, and the disbursement of promised bonuses. Several local BRS leaders participated in the demonstration, showing their dedication to the farmers’ cause.
