The BRS party has announced its full support for students protesting against the Telangana State Congress government’s decision to sell lands belonging to the University of Hyderabad (UoH).
On Monday, BRS Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR) met with student union leaders and students from UoH at Telangana Bhavan. The students shared their concerns, stating that the Congress government had originally allocated the lands for university use but was now auctioning them, which they felt was unfair.
KTR responded positively and encouraged the students to extend their protest beyond UoH, involving students from other central universities across the country. He assured them that the BRS party would support their cause and take the issue to the Union government.
Since UoH falls under the Central government’s jurisdiction, KTR promised to help the students arrange a meeting with Union Minister of Human Resource Development Dharmendra Pradhan. He emphasized the importance of protecting the university’s lands and warned that converting them for commercial use would harm the area’s natural environment and biodiversity.
