Protesting against the Congress government’s decision, BRS MPs demanded that Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat withdraw the proposal to hand over two important projects of the Krishna River to the KRMB. A delegation of BRS MPs, led by K Keshava Rao and Nama Nageswara Rao, met with the Union Minister and submitted a memorandum opposing the transfer of Telangana projects to KRMB.
The BRS leader expressed concern that this decision would harm the rights of the people of Telangana and the farmers. They urged the Union Minister to immediately withdraw the proposal. Nama Nageswara Rao also requested that water allocations be made on a 50:50 basis for both states until the survey in the Krishna Tribunals is completed. He stressed that BRS would fight extensively to protect Telangana’s interests, as the decision to hand over the projects to KRMB was not acceptable to the people of Telangana.
Furthermore, Nageswara Rao reminded that Telangana had already written a letter to the Centre requesting the finalization of the operational protocol for handing over the projects to KRMB and resolving water shares. Keshava Rao and Nama Nageswara Rao emphasized the importance of seriously considering and reflecting on the concerns they raised during their meeting with the Union Minister.
