Hyderabad: A recent visit by the leaders of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) to Chennai did not go as planned. The purpose of the visit was to study schemes for Backward Classes (BCs) in Tamil Nadu. However, the trip was not very successful as the BRS leaders were unable to meet any Tamil Nadu ministers.
The BRS delegation had hoped to meet Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and BC Welfare Minister RS Rajakannappa. Unfortunately, their appointments were not confirmed, and as a result, the BRS leaders missed the chance to meet key members of the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party.
The delegation was led by former Speaker S. Madhusudhana Chary and Rajya Sabha party leader V. Ravichandra, among others. During their two-day visit to Chennai, they did manage to meet DMK leader Veermani at the Dravida Kalagam party office. They discussed important events related to the Dravidian movement.
Additionally, the BRS leaders met with the former Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu, Rammohan Rao. During their meeting, Rao praised the development work done under KCR’s leadership in Telangana. He mentioned that, like in many other states, people from BC communities in Telangana were also fighting for their fair share.
Rao explained that Tamil Nadu’s 69 percent reservation in education and jobs was the result of a long history and strong political will. He expressed confidence that the BRS party would continue to make progress in its efforts. Madhusudhana Chary mentioned that he would prepare a detailed report on Tamil Nadu’s reservation policy and its social and political background, which he plans to present to KCR.
