BRS leaders condemn reported police brutality, submit petition to DGP

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders in Hyderabad complained to the Telangana DGP about alleged illegal cases being filed against party workers, especially social media activists. A delegation led by former MLA B Suman met with DGP Ravi Gupta to address the arrests in the state.

The BRS leader accused the Congress government of undermining democracy within just four months of taking power. They claimed that the government is using the police to target opposition party leaders, particularly those who question government policies and performance on social media.

Party leaders highlighted a case where one of their activists, Salvaji Madhava Rao, was mentally tortured and faced an SC/ST atrocity case. They expressed concern that some police officers are biased towards ruling party ministers and MLAs, instead of upholding democracy and freedom of speech.

The BRS leaders urged the DGP to ensure transparent police work to prevent such incidents in the future. They demanded the withdrawal of cases against their party activists and called for an impartial inquiry into the situation.
