BRS Intensifies Pressure on Congress Government, Announces Statewide Protest for Tomorrow

Hyderabad: The BRS (Bharat Rashtra Samithi) party has accused the government of failing to provide loan waivers to a significant number of farmers. According to BRS, less than 40 percent of farmers have received the promised loan waiver benefits.

To address this issue, the BRS has announced a state-wide protest on August 22. The protest will be held at mandal and constituency headquarters across the state. The party is demanding that the government provide loan waivers to all farmers without any conditions.

BRS working president, KT Rama Rao, expressed concern over the situation, stating that many farmers are worried and anxious because they have not received the loan waiver benefits. He pointed out that while the Chief Minister claimed that loans up to Rs 2 lakh had been waived, some Ministers have admitted that the loan waiver process is not yet complete.

KTR reminded everyone that the Congress party had promised to waive loans up to Rs 2 lakh for all farmers before the elections. However, the actual loan waiver amount has fallen short of expectations. Initially, the farm loan waiver was estimated to cost Rs 40,000 crore, but the cabinet only sanctioned Rs 31,000 crore. Of this, only Rs 26,000 crore was included in the budget, and just Rs 18,000 crore has been spent so far.

As a result, many farmers have been left in uncertainty. KTR claimed that reports from the field indicate that at least 40 percent of farmers have not benefited from the loan waiver. He demanded that the state government issue a clear statement and immediately waive loans up to Rs 2 lakh for each farmer.
