Hyderabad:

A team of doctors from the BRS party, who planned to visit Gandhi Hospital to investigate the recent mother and child deaths, was arrested by the police on Monday. The team was formed as a fact-finding committee to assess the situation at the hospital.

BRS working president, KT Rama Rao, had set up the committee, which included leaders like MLA Dr. K Sanjay and party members Dr. T Rajaiah and Dr. M Anand. The team intended to visit the hospital to gather information. However, the police intervened and placed the leaders under house arrest, preventing their visit.

KT Rama Rao, expressing his frustration, took to social media platform X to criticize the arrest. He questioned the government’s actions, asking, “Why arrest a fact-finding committee? What is the government afraid of? If there’s nothing to hide, let the committee investigate.” He further accused the government of inefficiency and said the report would help improve public health.

At a press conference held at Telangana Bhavan, the committee members voiced their concerns about the state of public health in Telangana. Dr. T Rajaiah claimed that under Chief Minister KCR’s leadership, Telangana had once excelled in medical health. However, he argued that things have worsened under the current government.

Dr. Rajaiah questioned the police’s decision to stop their visit to Gandhi Hospital. “Why are we being prevented from visiting a public hospital? Is this a democracy or an emergency situation?” he asked. He also accused the current government of neglecting important issues like education and healthcare, and called for a health emergency to be declared immediately.

He further alleged that the government under Revanth Reddy was showing dictatorial tendencies, and questioned why the Chief Minister had not yet visited Gandhi Hospital to address the growing concerns.
