BRS Considering Skipping Plenary This Year Due to Desertions

The BRS, a political party in Hyderabad, usually holds its annual plenary and a public meeting on April 27 to celebrate its Formation Day. However, this year, due to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and leaders being busy with campaigns, the plenary may not take place. During the plenary, party leaders discuss government development works and welfare measures.

With changes in leadership and several members leaving the party to join other political parties like BJP and Congress, there is uncertainty about the plenary happening this year. Some members feel that it may be difficult to gather leaders for the meeting amidst ongoing election activities. The party was renamed from TRS to BRS by party chief K Chandrashekar Rao two years ago, but there have been calls from within the party to revert to the old name.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the party had to cancel its plenary meetings in 2020 and 2021. The party’s 20th Formation Day last year was celebrated with limited guests at HICC in Hyderabad. The decision about holding the plenary and potentially renaming the party back to TRS will likely be made after the Lok Sabha elections.
