BRS Accuses Revanth Reddy of Misleading Assembly

Hyderabad: The argument between BRS and Congress leaders over the metering issue is ongoing. BRS leaders claimed that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy read out the wrong document. They said it was not about meters but about the government joining the UDAY scheme.

At a press conference, BRS leader G Jagadish Reddy, along with party leaders Md Mahamood Ali and B Suman, accused the Chief Minister of misleading the Assembly and the public. They said he falsely claimed that the KCR government agreed to install meters on agricultural pumps. Reddy criticized the CM for lying and selectively reading the document related to the UDAY scheme.

Jagadish Reddy also accused the CM of trying to get newspapers to publish false stories. He insisted that the state government did not agree to install meters, despite offers from the Centre. Reddy alleged that the CM’s actions were aimed at privatizing the discoms.

The former power minister accused the CM of using deceitful tactics and challenged Revanth Reddy to prove that any smart meters were installed on farmers’ motors. He explained that the UDAY scheme requires the state government to be responsible for loans taken by the Discoms, which led to the state’s involvement in the scheme.

Reddy claimed there was a plan to put electricity consumers at the mercy of “butchers.” He argued that a false narrative was being spread that people in the Old City do not pay bills, even though all houses there have smart meters. He stated that joining the UDAY scheme does not harm consumers and challenged the CM to an open debate on the issue.
