The BRS leaders from Mahabubnagar have accused Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu of taking Telangana’s share of water with the support of the NDA government at the Centre.
On Friday, the leaders held a press conference at Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad. Former Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy criticized the BJP government, saying that it was neglecting Telangana’s interests to benefit Jagan Mohan Reddy and Chandrababu Naidu. He questioned why the Congress government had ignored the Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Project. He pointed out that the BRS government had spent ₹34,000 crore on the project and also worked on other irrigation projects like Bhima, Koil Sagar, Kalwakurthy, and Nettempadu, which were started earlier by Congress. However, he claimed that none of the projects initiated by Congress in the past 60 years were useful under the Palamuru Rangareddy scheme. He urged the government to resume and complete the project within the next four months.
Another BRS leader, V Srinivas Goud, expressed concern that Telangana’s irrigation and drinking water supply were once again in danger. He criticized the Congress government for failing to plan ahead and alleged that they were ruling based on false promises. He warned that farmers would soon be angry with the Congress government.
Srinivas Goud also praised former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), saying that during his rule, contractors were paid only after completing work. He further stated that despite numerous irrigation projects being developed in Telangana under KCR, Congress leaders failed to recognize their existence.
