Telangana BJP Pays Tributes to Savitribai Phule on Her Birth Anniversary
The Telangana BJP honored Savitribai Phule, a pioneer of women’s rights and an advocate for marginalized sections of society, on her birth anniversary. The event was organized by the BJP OBC Morcha on Friday in Hyderabad.
Senior leaders, including BJP OBC Morcha National President Dr. K. Laxman, BJP State President and Union Minister Kishan Reddy, and State BJP OBC Morcha President Anan Goud, paid floral tributes to Savitribai Phule’s portrait. Dr. Laxman praised the Telangana government’s decision to declare her birth anniversary as Women Teachers’ Day, calling it an important step in acknowledging the role of women in education.
Dr. Laxman highlighted Savitribai Phule’s belief in the transformative power of education. Despite facing numerous obstacles, she championed education as a tool to improve lives and fought for the rights of widows. He emphasized her tireless dedication to tackling societal issues and her efforts to promote girls’ education as a means of achieving progress.
Savitribai Phule, along with her husband Jyotirao Phule, challenged societal norms and worked to uplift the downtrodden and backward classes by prioritizing women’s education. Dr. Laxman also discussed the initiatives of the Narendra Modi government to empower women. These include the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam Act, which provides 33% reservation for women in legislative bodies, and the Namo Drone Didi scheme, aimed at equipping women’s self-help groups with drones.
He concluded by encouraging women to actively participate in politics, emphasizing the importance of their involvement in governance and decision-making processes.
