BJP Leader Visits Tobacco Procurement Center Over Farmer Complaints
BJP Jogulamba Gadwal District President, S. Ramachandra Reddy, visited the procurement center of Alliance 1 Tobacco Company near Alampur X Road Market Yard after receiving complaints from farmers. Farmers reported that the company was significantly underpaying them for their produce.
During his visit, Reddy discovered that the company had agreed to pay ₹15,500 per quintal for tobacco. However, they were deducting ₹8,000 to ₹10,000, claiming it was due to moisture content in the produce. This left farmers with only about half of the agreed payment.
He criticized the company employees on the spot for their unfair practices. Reddy pointed out that while ITC management near Jallapuram was buying tobacco at fair prices, Alliance 1 was exploiting farmers. He expressed concern over the hardships faced by farmers, who are already struggling with high labor costs, poor crop yields, and delays in receiving Rythu Bandhu scheme benefits.
Reddy issued a stern warning to the company, demanding that they stop these unfair deductions immediately. He also called for daily procurement of the farmers’ produce at the promised rates. He assured farmers that the BJP would strongly fight for their rights if the malpractice continued.
The program was attended by several district representatives and local leaders. Among them were Raj Gopal, Nageshwar Reddy, Eshwar, Nagamallaiah, Ravi, and mandal presidents like Jagan Mohan Reddy and Sanjeev Reddy. Other key leaders such as Sudhakar, Lakshmi Narayana, Laxman, Jagan Goud, and Upender Reddy were also present.
