Jagga Reddy Hopes for Successful Rescue Operation at SLBC Tunnel

Hyderabad: TPCC working president T Jagga Reddy expressed hope that the ongoing rescue efforts at the SLBC tunnel would be successful. He said the incident was tragic and unfortunate and praised the 12 expert teams working tirelessly to save those trapped inside.

He mentioned that Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy has been at the accident site on the instructions of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. The minister arrived within an hour of the incident. He also pointed out that even Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called the Chief Minister to offer support, showing the seriousness of the situation.

Rescue teams are facing significant challenges in reaching the exact location where the workers are trapped. The operation is highly risky, and authorities are doing their best to ensure the safety of those inside the tunnel.

Jagga Reddy reminded people that the Congress government originally started the SLBC project to provide safe drinking water to fluorosis-affected areas in Nalgonda district. However, he accused the previous BRS government of neglecting the project for ten years.

He said that after Revanth Reddy became Chief Minister, leaders like Uttam Kumar Reddy, Jana Reddy, and Komatireddy worked hard to complete the SLBC project. Once the tunnel is finished, it is expected to provide irrigation water to nearly 3-4 lakh acres of land.

Jagga Reddy reaffirmed that the Congress party, under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, is committed to completing the project.

Criticizing opposition leaders, he accused BRS leader Harish Rao of using the tragedy for political attacks instead of focusing on the rescue efforts. He questioned why those who ignored the project while in power are now blaming the Congress government.

He also compared this situation to past incidents, asking why Harish Rao remained silent when 65 people died in the Kondagattu accident. He pointed out that KCR did not visit the site at that time.

Similarly, he mentioned that when 25 schoolchildren died in the Masayipet rail accident, KCR did not respond by visiting the location.

Jagga Reddy also questioned BJP leader Raghunandan Rao, asking why Prime Minister Modi did not visit Gujarat when a bridge collapsed there. He stated that such leaders have no right to criticize the Congress government.
