Khammam: BJP Kisan Morcha State president Kondapally Sridhar Reddy stated that India will never forget the consequences of the Emergency imposed by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s Congress government. He made these remarks during a meeting at the BJP camp office on the Khammam Rural Warangal Cross Road, held as part of activities organized by the BJP National Party.
Reddy said that thousands of democratic activists and nationalists were unlawfully arrested and imprisoned nationwide due to Indira Gandhi’s decision. He alleged that the Emergency led to violence against many nationalists and democrats. Reddy praised those who fought against the Emergency, calling them an inspiration for today’s generation.
During the meeting, senior BJP leaders Duddukuri Venkateswara Rao and Srinivasa Sharma Sankaram Babu, who were also arrested during the Emergency, shared their experiences of opposing it. They accused the Congress government of enjoying undermining democracy and unlawfully arresting nationalists and democrats.
