Chicken Sales Drop in Telangana Due to Bird Flu Concerns
Chicken sales in Telangana have fallen sharply due to fears of bird flu. Reports indicate a 70% decline in sales across the state. As a result, chicken prices have dropped significantly, now selling for less than ₹200 per kilogram.
Although there are growing concerns, Telangana has not yet reported any confirmed cases of bird flu. However, a recent incident in Nalgonda district has raised alarm. Dead chickens were allegedly dumped in a lake, prompting the Animal Husbandry Department to launch an investigation.
With fewer people buying chicken, the demand for other meats has increased. Many consumers are turning to mutton and fish as alternative protein sources. Meat traders and vendors have reported a significant rise in sales of these products.
Officials are urging the public not to panic. They have assured that strict monitoring is in place to prevent any possible outbreak in the state.
