Applicants visiting the Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) in Hyderabad are complaining about long wait times and delays in their work. They say that staff and officers are not punctual, causing unnecessary delays and inconvenience. Transport unions are urging the department to install biometric systems at RTOs to monitor staff attendance and punctuality.
Many applicants have experienced delays as staff and officials arrive late for duty at the RTO offices. This results in increased pending work and frustration for those waiting to get their tasks done on time. For example, one applicant at Bandlaguda RTO mentioned that despite arriving on time for their scheduled slot, they had to wait outside because officers were late.
Another applicant at Moosarambagh RTO shared a similar experience of waiting for staff to start their work, leading to significant delays in completing the process. Visitors at Bandlaguda RTO often spend over an hour due to late reporting of staff, impacting various services provided by the office.
The Telangana Auto and Motor Welfare Union highlighted the issue of delayed services at RTOs, affecting drivers of auto-rickshaws and heavy vehicles who need to renew their licenses. With over 500-600 transactions happening daily at each RTO office, the lack of punctuality among staff is causing frustration among the applicants.
The union is advocating for the implementation of a biometric attendance system at RTOs to ensure that staff are on time and efficient in their work. Currently, employees are reportedly working only five and a half hours a day, which is deemed insufficient given the number of visitors and transactions handled by the offices. The union is calling on the government to mandate the use of biometric machines at RTOs to monitor staff efficiency and improve service delivery.
