Deputy CM Visits Hostels to Assess Student Life
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka visited the Gurukul BC and SC Girls Welfare Hostels in Bibinagar, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, on Sunday. The visit aimed to evaluate the living conditions of the students residing there.
During his visit, Bhatti inspected the facilities, interacted with students, and shared a meal with them to better understand their challenges. He was warmly received by MLA Kumbham Anil Kumar Reddy, Additional Collectors Gangadhar and Veerareddy, as well as the hostel students. However, the visit was briefly disrupted when a large crowd of party workers caused commotion, prompting the Deputy CM to leave for a short time. Once the situation calmed, he returned and continued his inspection.
The Deputy CM closely examined the hostel’s food supplies, vegetables, groceries, and health check-up records. While having lunch with the students, he inquired about the quality of the food and whether the increased diet charges had led to improvements. The students expressed their satisfaction, mentioning that they now enjoy better meals, including chicken and mutton served three times a week. However, they raised concerns about a rule that restricts them from keeping snacks brought by their parents, as these snacks are redirected to orphanages instead.
In response, Bhatti assured the students that he would address the issue. Additionally, staff members from the SC hostel brought up salary disparities, pointing out that BC hostel staff receive Rs 15,000 per month, while they are paid only Rs 6,000. Bhatti promised to look into and resolve the matter.
