Government to Support Police Department Needs: Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka

Hyderabad: The State government will ensure that the Police department gets the resources it needs, said Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu.

On Saturday, Bhatti held discussions with police officers at the Secretariat as part of pre-budget meetings. During the meeting, he emphasized the need to strengthen security in Telangana, especially as the state is rapidly urbanizing.

He noted that Hyderabad is expanding, with a new “Future City” zone being developed alongside the three existing city zones. Additionally, work on the Regional Ring Road is progressing quickly. With increasing financial resources, job opportunities, and migration to the city, Bhatti stressed that the Home department must be prepared to enhance security measures.

The Deputy CM assured police officials that special attention would be given to resolving security issues in border areas. He also praised the Telangana Police for their strong reputation, particularly in handling cybercrime cases, where they are among the best in the country.

Bhatti instructed officials to propose the construction of police quarters wherever possible. He also suggested that police officers explore Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds to further strengthen the department.

During the meeting, Bhatti reviewed the number of police positions filled in the past year and the current vacancies. Police officials presented budget requirements for eight divisions, including Greyhound, Narcotics, Intelligence, Fire, and ex-servicemen.

Director General of Police (DGP) Jitendra submitted a comprehensive report on the overall budget needs of the Police department.
