Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister of Telangana, Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, has invited a well-known semiconductor company, Rohm, to set up a semiconductor industry in Telangana. Rohm is based near Kyoto city in Japan.
As part of his visit to Japan, Bhatti toured the Rohm company on Thursday, where he spoke with the management. He emphasized that Telangana is growing quickly and that semiconductors are needed in many different sectors. Bhatti encouraged Rohm to establish a semiconductor industry in Telangana, either by itself or through partnerships. He highlighted that the Telangana government offers favorable conditions for setting up industries.
During the visit, Rohm officials demonstrated their semiconductor production processes using virtual reality. They showed how their operations run in various countries. The management also noted that Rohm already has three locations in India and mentioned that they are considering Telangana as a new site because of the supportive environment provided by the state government.
Bhatti Vikramarka also visited the Panasonic office near Kyoto city. There, the company’s President, Nabi Nakanishi, gave him an overview of their electronic products. Nakanishi explained that Panasonic is currently supplying batteries for electric vehicles (EVs) around the world, including in India. In response, Bhatti shared that Telangana plans to increase the number of EVs in the state and aims to convert all RTC buses into electric vehicles. He invited Panasonic to set up a plant in Telangana and promised full government support.
In addition to these business visits, the delegation, led by Bhatti, also visited the Toji Buddhist Temple near Kyoto. They received blessings from a Buddhist monk during their visit. Bhatti was accompanied by several officials, including Telangana’s Special Chief Secretary for Finance, Ramakrishna Rao, Energy Department Secretary Ronald Ross, SCCL CMD N Balaram, and officers from the Indian Embassy.
