During the third National Mining Ministers’ Conference in Konark, Odisha, on Monday, Vikramarka handed over a detailed letter to Kishan Reddy outlining the financial requirements and approvals for these projects. One of the major issues highlighted was the Regional Ring Road project. He noted that while the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) gave in-principle approval for the project in 2016, the Centre has yet to provide financial clearance for its northern and southern corridors. The project, estimated to cost Rs 34,367.62 crore, was even referenced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Vijaya Sankalpa Sabha on July 3, 2022. The Telangana government has expressed its willingness to cover 50% of the land acquisition costs.

Vikramarka also discussed plans for developing 10 new greenfield radial roads to expand Hyderabad city. The project, part of the Hyderabad Metro corridor, is estimated to cost Rs 45,000 crore. Additionally, he proposed Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II, which includes 76.4 km of new corridors with a project cost of Rs 24,269 crore.

On the topic of the Musi River Rejuvenation, the Deputy CM shared plans for special measures, such as the development of Gandhi Sarovar at Bapu Ghat. The rejuvenation project is estimated to cost Rs 14,100 crore. The government also proposes interconnecting the Godavari and Musi rivers by diverting 5 TMC of water from Godavari and purifying Musi River, at an estimated cost of Rs 7,440 crore.

Other significant projects include the Hyderabad City Sewerage Master Plan (CSMP), which spans 7,444 km and costs Rs 17,212.69 crore, and the Warangal Underground Drainage Plan, which is estimated to cost Rs 4,170 crore. Additionally, the construction of a Greenfield Highway connecting Bandar Port to Hyderabad Dry Port, estimated at Rs 17,000 crore, was also proposed.

The Deputy CM emphasized the importance of these projects and appealed to the Union Minister for timely approvals and funding to ensure Telangana’s development.
