The BC Bandhu scheme, launched by the Telangana government, aims to provide financial assistance to BC communities. On Sunday, Finance Minister T Harish Rao distributed cheques to eligible beneficiaries in Siddipet. The scheme will support economic growth and self-reliance among BC communities.
Rao conducted a symbolic event in Siddipet where 300 beneficiaries from the Siddipet constituency received cheques for Rs 1 lakh. This event marks the beginning of the scheme, which aims to strengthen caste-based professions.
The unique feature of this scheme is its streamlined approach, ensuring that eligible beneficiaries receive a grant of Rs 1 lakh without the need for guarantees or extensive documentation.
Rao praised Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for spearheading the implementation of the scheme to uplift BC communities. The government has also taken initiatives like providing free electricity to Rajakas and Nai Brahmins, introducing measures for toddy workers, and reservations in wine shops.
Rao expressed concern for Vishwa Brahmins who face challenges in their caste professions and assured them of continued government support. He also announced the establishment of a BC degree residential hostel in Siddipet, adding to the success of 300 BC residential hostels across the State.
The scheme supports various caste-based industries, including sheep units for Yadava and Kurma castes. Padmashalis will also receive assistance through the distribution of handloom sarees during Dasara and Bathukamma festivals.
Rao called upon citizens to support the government’s efforts in empowering BC communities and fostering inclusive development.
District collector Prashanth Jeevan Patil assured transparent selection of beneficiaries as per Rao’s directives. He urged recipients to use the grant to create self-employment opportunities and contribute to the growth of their respective professions while preserving their unique caste identities.
