Union Minister Urges Chief Minister to Fulfill Promises to Beneficiaries

Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, has called on Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to take immediate action in delivering key welfare schemes to eligible beneficiaries across the state. These schemes include Rythu Bharosa, Athmiya Bharosa, Indiramma Houses, and ration cards.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Minister on Wednesday, Bandi Sanjay expressed disappointment over the lack of progress in implementing the state government’s promises. He noted that the government had announced the rollout of these prestigious schemes starting January 26. However, according to him, less than three percent of eligible beneficiaries have received any benefits so far.

Recalling the Chief Minister’s commitments, he highlighted promises made to deposit Rs 20,000 crore annually into the accounts of 70 lakh farmers under the Rythu Bharosa scheme. Additionally, under the Indiramma Athmiya Bharosa initiative, Rs 12,000 per year was to be provided to 10 lakh landless agricultural laborers. The government had also pledged to issue ration cards to 40 lakh families and supply fine rice.

Bandi Sanjay further pointed out the promise of constructing four lakh houses across the state, with 3,500 houses allocated per constituency, starting January 26. He emphasized that Rythu Bharosa funds were to be credited to farmers’ accounts by the end of January. However, most of these promises remain unfulfilled.

The Union Minister criticized the limited rollout of these schemes, stating that out of 12,991 Gram Panchayats in the state, only 561 villages—just one per mandal—were selected for implementation. He revealed that of the 70 lakh eligible farmers, only 4,41,911 farmers received Rs 6,000 per acre, leaving the majority without any support.

Similarly, under the Indiramma Athmiya Bharosa scheme, only 20,336 landless laborer families have received financial support, a sharp contrast to the promised assistance for 10 lakh families. This means nearly 9.79 lakh families are still waiting for the promised aid.

Bandi Sanjay also raised concerns about the ration card distribution. He noted that while 40 lakh families were promised ration cards, only 42,267 people have been identified so far, leaving 99 percent of eligible families without cards.

Regarding housing, he stated that of the 70 lakh applications received, around 40 lakh people were found eligible—10 lakh families in Greater Hyderabad and 30 lakh in other areas. However, only 72,406 people have been issued house allotment papers, which he described as shocking.

The Union Minister urged the Chief Minister to take swift action to ensure the delivery of these welfare schemes to all eligible beneficiaries without further delay.
