In Hyderabad, BJP MP Bandi Sanjay criticized the Congress government for allocating funds for Tablighi Jamaat meetings in Vikarabad in January 2024. He found it outrageous that Rs.2.45 crores were released for these meetings organized by Tablighi Jamaat in Parigi Mandal under the name of the Islamic Society.
Sanjay questioned if CM Revanth Reddy was aware of these funds and expressed his anger towards the state intelligence department. He wondered if the state government wanted to support extremist groups in Telangana. He also raised concerns about why the Congress government was allocating funds for Tablighi Jamaat when they claim that the state is bankrupt.
Sanjay accused Tablighi Jamaat of promoting terrorism and pointed out that countries like Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan have banned the organization. He alleged that the prayer programs organized by Tablighis were the main reason for the spread of Corona in India in 2020.
He questioned who was behind the allocation of government funds to an organization that spreads extremist ideologies and forces religious conversions. He demanded immediate discussions on Tablighi Jamaat and shared a picture of Taluk as instructed by the government.
