Baldia chief calls for quick resolution of civic issues

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner, K Ilambarithi, has stressed the importance of addressing complaints raised during the Prajavani programme. He directed officials to give priority to these concerns and take necessary steps to resolve them quickly.

The Commissioner urged department officials to carefully consider grievances submitted by the public and to inform petitioners once their issues are resolved. He also advised citizens to avoid bringing the same issue repeatedly to public hearings. If a complaint cannot be resolved immediately, officials should clearly explain the reasons for the delay.

During the Prajavani programme at the GHMC Head Office on Monday, the Commissioner and Deputy Mayor Mote Srilatha Shobhan Reddy received petitions from citizens seeking solutions to their problems. The GHMC received a total of 193 complaints across its headquarters and all its circles.

At the GHMC headquarters alone, 107 complaints were registered. Among these, 62 complaints were related to the Town Planning Department, 11 to the Tax Department, seven each to the Engineering and Sanitation Departments, four to the Finance Department, two each to the UCD and Land Acquisition Departments, and one each to the UBD, Administration, Health, Electrical, and Advertisement Departments. Additionally, seven complaints were received through the Prajavani phone-in programme and were forwarded to the respective departments.

In the six GHMC zones, 86 complaints were recorded. Kukatpally zone had the highest number with 32 complaints, followed by Serilingampally with 19, LB Nagar with 13, Secunderabad with 12, Charminar with nine, and Khairatabad with one complaint.

Deputy Mayor Srilatha Shobhan Reddy highlighted the need for officials to promptly address public grievances. She urged them to monitor the complaints regularly and ensure quick resolutions.

Several senior officials, including Additional Commissioners Shiva Kumar Naidu, Venugopal, Pankaja, Geetha Radhika, Raghu Prasad, Venugopal Reddy, and others, were present at the programme. Officers from various departments, including Town Planning, Revenue, Water Works, and Veterinary Services, also participated.

In a separate public grievance programme conducted by the Hyderabad Disaster Response, Assets Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRA), 49 complaints were received. The HYDRA Commissioner stated that most of these complaints were related to layouts on the city outskirts.
