Awareness Seminar on Child-Friendly Legal Services Held in Nagarkurnool
An awareness seminar on “Child-Friendly Legal Services for Children” was organized at ZPHS High School, Telakapally, by the Legal Services Unit for Children in Nagarkurnool District. This event was conducted following orders from the State High Court and under the guidance of the Chairman and Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority.
Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel ACP Sriram Arya attended as the chief guest. He spoke about the importance of children’s rights and stressed that all students should attend school regularly. He also advised them to be careful while using mobile phones and warned against forwarding inappropriate messages or videos.
ACP Sriram Arya urged students to stay away from substance abuse and to respect their parents and teachers in order to succeed in life. He also informed them about the POCSO Act, which is designed to protect minor girls from sexual harassment. He encouraged girls facing any issues to seek support from the She Team or call the Child Helpline (1098). Additionally, he mentioned that free legal aid is available by calling the toll-free number 15100.
The event was attended by ZPHS Headmaster P. Srinivasulu, teachers, para-legal volunteers G. Balaswamy and C. Aruna, along with students. This awareness program helped students understand their legal rights, personal safety, and ways to ensure a secure future.
