Authorities on High Alert Following Orange Warning

**Karimnagar:** The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Karimnagar and Peddapally districts, predicting heavy rains over the next two days. Officials in both districts are on high alert to deal with the situation.

For the past four days, continuous rain has severely damaged many roads. Officials have advised villagers to be cautious as water levels are rising due to large inflows into local projects.

In cities like Karimnagar, rainwater has accumulated in pits, leading to an increase in mosquito breeding. Residents are also complaining of a foul smell because of the death of pigs in various colonies. However, district administrations have not taken measures to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.

In Peddapalli district, continuous rain since Friday has disrupted coal production in the opencast mines of the Singareni Company. The Ramagundam industrial area has four opencast mines, producing a total of 80,000 tons of coal per day. Due to rainwater accumulation in working areas, coal extraction has come to a halt.

In Karimnagar, Mayor Sunil Rao inspected houses damaged by the rains.

Jagtial Collector B Satya Prasad has urged district residents to stay alert. He advised that children and young people should avoid going near tanks and ponds. Prasad suggested that danger warning boards be installed at ponds and streams.

Additionally, people were advised to dial 100 for help and remain cautious as mud houses in rural areas might collapse due to the rain. Prasad also warned residents to steer clear of electricity poles during the rainy period.
