In Gadwal, after a report in The Hans India highlighted a mysterious illness in Bonkur, local health authorities took swift action. Led by Medical Health Officer Siddappa, they organized a medical camp in the village.
The main goal of the camp was to provide immediate medical care to those affected and to understand the extent and seriousness of the illness. Health officials collected information about the symptoms, potential causes, and the demographics of those affected to better diagnose the illness and plan an effective response.
Local leaders, including members of an all-party committee like Nagar Doddi Venkataramudu, Morugu Veeresh, and Shanthi (Radha), played an important role in comforting and supporting the villagers during this challenging time.
Many patients from the village had already gone to hospitals in Kurnool for treatment, which led to high medical expenses. These costs, amounting to lakhs, indicated that the illness was severe and required specialized treatment that might not be available in the local area.
