Aspirants from Group-II stage protest and call for exam postponement

Tension arose at the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) office in Hyderabad on Thursday. A large number of Group-II aspirants staged a protest, demanding that the Group-II exam be postponed. The police responded by using force and arresting the protesters.

The aspirants held up a banner with the message “Dear TSPSC, be a blessing not a curse.” Some of the protesters claimed that there were clashes in the dates of various competitive exams. The Gurukul Board exams were scheduled from August 1 to August 23, just a week before the Group-II exam on August 29 and 30. Since the syllabus for these exams is different, the candidates said they did not have enough time to prepare for the Group-II exam.

The aspirants also pointed out that the syllabus for the Group-II exam’s third paper (economics) had been increased by 70 percent, but the study material had not been updated. They mentioned that they had been unable to prepare for the exams for the past three months due to paper leakage issues at TSPSC. They requested that the exam be postponed by at least three months.

Despite visiting the TSPSC office and requesting officials to postpone the exams for the past 25 days, their pleas were ignored. Some candidates also had to write junior lecturer post examinations on the same date as the Group-II exam, causing further difficulties. They expressed frustration that study materials had not been uploaded on the TSPSC website as promised.

The NSUI State president questioned why the government was in such a hurry to conduct the exam when it had not conducted exams for seven years previously. He suggested that they could wait for another three months. Many candidates found themselves struggling with insufficient preparation time. However, TSPSC officials remained firm in sticking to the existing schedule.

In summary, the aspirants are upset about clashes in exam dates, insufficient preparation time, and a lack of updated study materials. They are requesting a postponement of the Group-II exam.
