Arvind Kejriwal Commends Bhagwant Mann, Chief Minister of Punjab, During Amritpal Singh's Controversy

The search for Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh, who is still at large, has entered its fourth day in Punjab. Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, has praised his Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann for keeping the law and order situation calm and collected during this time. Kejriwal commended Mann’s administration for proving that with correct intentions, peace and order can be maintained successfully, as demonstrated by their victory over the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party in last year’s election.

Mann had warned that anyone attempting to disturb the peace in the state would be dealt with, and the Punjab Police have detained over 100 persons in their efforts to capture Singh. The authorities suspect that Pakistan’s intelligence agency, Inter-Services Intelligence, along with other foreign organizations, are involved in efforts to liberate Singh.

Singh’s home in Jallupur Khera, Amritsar, has a large police presence outside of it, and security has been increased throughout the state. Information on Singh is being sent to checkpoints along international borders, especially those with Bangladesh and Nepal. The Punjabi government has also informed the High Court that Amritpal Singh is the target of the strict National Security Act.

In another matter, Kejriwal criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party for allegedly putting the budget request on hold for the national capital.
