The Indian government has approved plans for 12 new medical colleges in Telangana and five in Andhra Pradesh. Starting from the 2023-24 academic year, each college will have 150 seats for students.
In Telangana, three trusts – Arundhati, CMR, and Colombo – will set up medical colleges in Malkajgiri, Medchal, and Warangal respectively. The other nine colleges will be run by the government and located in Bhupalpally, Kamareddy, Karimnagar, Khammam, Asifabad, Nirmal, Sircilla, Vikarabad, and Jangaon.
Meanwhile in Andhra Pradesh, all five new medical colleges will be government-run and located in Eluru, Machlipatnam, Nandyal, Rajahmundry, and Vijayanagaram.
