VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh Ministers Anitha, Narayana, and Anagani Satya Prasad have criticized YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) chief YS Jagan for making false statements about the government’s flood relief efforts.
Speaking to the media in Vijayawada on Wednesday, the ministers said that Jagan’s frustration comes from his party’s poor performance in the last elections, where they won only 11 assembly seats.
The ministers also took aim at YSRCP leaders, accusing them of slow and baseless criticism while the state was dealing with the serious effects of floods and heavy rains. They pointed out that many residents of Vijayawada were trapped in floodwaters for days, but the government acted quickly to help them. They said that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu gave clear instructions to officials, which helped manage the floods and reduce the problems faced by the public.
According to the ministers, more than 10,000 officials and staff worked hard during the floods, and the government has already spent around Rs 602 crore on relief efforts. This money has been used for food (Rs 92.5 crore), drinking water (Rs 11.2 crore), medical care (Rs 4.55 crore), and sanitation (Rs 22.56 crore).
The ministers also denied claims that Rs 23 crore was spent on candles and streetlights, clarifying that the correct amount was only Rs 23 lakh. They accused YS Jagan of spreading false information and compared his spending to unnecessary luxuries, insisting that their government is not involved in any corruption.
In conclusion, the ministers urged YSRCP to stop making false accusations and focus on more constructive actions for the benefit of the people.
