Andhra Pradesh government acknowledges Padma awardees

The state government of Hyderabad recently honored the winners of Padma awards within 24 hours of the announcement by the Centre. The felicitation ceremony was not just about giving them a shawl, but also included speeches praising their achievements.

The government presented Rs 25 lakh and a monthly pension of Rs 25,000 to each of the Padma Sri awardees. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced this decision, stating that it was important to support these award winners who often come from rural backgrounds and poor families. He emphasized that the government should assist in preserving the state’s culture and heritage and ensure that they lead a dignified life. Revanth clarified that this event had no political motive.

Revanth also mentioned how former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu’s leadership qualities and oratory skills had influenced him. He highlighted the impact that Venkaiah Naidu and Jaipal Reddy had in enhancing the prestige of debates and discussions in Parliament and Assembly.

Venkaiah Naidu expressed concern about the decline in political values and the behavior of lawmakers, noting that they often use foul language. He shared an incident where women asked him for a solution to this issue, and he advised them to press the button against such leaders when they go to vote.

Actor Chiranjeevi, endorsing Venkaiah Naidu’s observation, mentioned that he had left politics because he felt like an outsider. He commended the government for renaming the Nandi awards as Gaddar awards.

The felicitation ceremony included Gaddam Sammaiah, Dasari Kondappa, Ananda Chari, Umamaheshwari, Kethavath Somlal, and Kurella Vitalacharya among those honored. Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, Ministers Jupalli Krishna Rao, Komati Reddy Venkat Reddy, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, and others also attended the event.
