Hyderabad: Sirpur MLA Dr. Palvai Harish Babu has made a strong request to the State government regarding the Komuram Bheem Asifabad district. He suggested that if the government does not allocate enough funds to this district, it should consider merging it with the neighboring state of Maharashtra.
During a debate on the Budget proposals for irrigation and civil supplies for the financial year 2024–25 in the State Assembly on Tuesday, Dr. Palvai expressed his concerns. He emphasized that the backward Komuram Bheem Asifabad district needs more financial support.
Dr. Palvai voiced his frustration, stating that if funds are not provided, the district should be merged with Maharashtra. He also called for the creation of a house committee to study and suggest ways to improve the backward areas in the State.
Additionally, Dr. Palvai urged the State government to complete several important projects. These include the Dr. BR Ambedkar Pranahita Chevella project at Tummidi Hetti, the Jagannathpur project, and the Ada projects. He highlighted the need for desilting the PP Rao Project to ensure water supply for 11,000 acres of agricultural land.
Dr. Palvai also criticized the previous government for neglecting North Telangana by diverting water primarily to South Telangana. He requested the current government to make necessary changes to address these past mistakes. Furthermore, he asked for Rs 12 crore to be allocated to the forest department for road construction in the district.
