Hyderabad: The Minister for Handlooms and Textiles, Tummala Nageshwar Rao, inaugurated the 15-day All India Crafts Mela-2024 at Shilparamam in Madhapur on Thursday. This grand event showcases a wide range of handloom and craft products from across Telangana, available for purchase at the exhibition.
The mela features an impressive variety of items, including handlooms, handicrafts, woodcarvings, terracotta, blue pottery, cane, bamboo, and jute products. Visitors will also get the chance to see live demonstrations of these crafts, adding an interactive and educational element to the experience.
In addition to the craft displays, cultural programmes are planned every evening. These performances aim to celebrate and highlight India’s rich artistic and cultural heritage.
Around 100 stalls have been set up for the event, with sponsorship from the Ministry of Textiles. The National Jute Board alone is hosting 31 stalls, and over 300 stalls are spread across the mela premises.
To make the event even more special, classical artists from cities such as Austin, Dubai, Richmond, and Atlanta will perform during the mela. According to a senior official from Shilparamam, these performances are expected to add a global flavor to the celebrations.
