The AICC has decided on the final candidates for the Khammam, Karimnagar, and Hyderabad constituencies. Other candidates will start filing nominations from April 18. After a recent visit from KC Venugopal, the Congress leadership reached a consensus. Velichala Rajender Rao, son of former Karimnagar MLA Jagapathi Rao, has been finalized for the Karimnagar Lok Sabha seat. In Khammam, Ponguleti Prasad Reddy, brother of Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, has been chosen. For the Hyderabad constituency, DCC chief Sameer Waliullah is being considered.
The decision on these three candidates was made by the AICC after discussions with party leaders. Velichala Rajender Rao is a Velama from Karimnagar, and his selection fulfills the promise made to Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy in Khammam. Ponguleti Prasad Reddy’s nomination is also seen as a strategic move to maintain the minister’s influence in the region. Sameer Waliullah is expected to represent the Congress party in Hyderabad.
The announcement of these final candidates comes ahead of the nomination filing deadline on April 18. The AICC’s decision aims to strengthen the party’s position in these key constituencies. Overall, the selection process reflects the party’s strategy to field candidates who can effectively represent the interests of the people in these areas.
