During the seminar, Agricultural Joint Director Vasu spoke about the importance of maintaining soil health. He explained how farmers should select crops based on the type of soil in their fields to ensure better yields and sustainable farming practices.

Dr. T. Prabhakar Reddy, a scientist from the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, emphasized the role of soil testing in improving soil fertility. He discussed practical steps farmers can take to enhance the quality of their soil and ensure long-term productivity. Another scientist, Dr. Ramakrishna, provided valuable insights into pest control measures that farmers should be aware of to protect their crops.

The experts highlighted a pressing issue in the Nagarkurnool district—80% of the soils in the area have low organic carbon levels. To address this, they encouraged farmers to use organic fertilizers such as animal manure, poultry manure, and green manure. They also urged farmers to minimize the use of chemical fertilizers to promote healthier soil and improve agricultural sustainability.

The seminar saw active participation from a large number of farmers. They gained useful knowledge about improving soil health and adopting eco-friendly farming methods, which would benefit both their crops and the environment.
